Our vision is to promote professionalism, encourage sharing of information, and develop life-long bonds among students, parents, and the community. Founder and current Chairman Dr. Hwei-Chih Cheng, has visited many schools around the world and has combined the strengths of the western educational model with traditional Chinese educational philosophy. She believes that education is aimed at a total development of the individual potentialities- moral, intellectual, physical, social, and aesthetic. She believes that cognitive development includes moral awareness, understanding, and knowledge. She also believes that education of life needs to be introduced to children at the elementary level. Therefore, at Lih-Jen, students are encouraged to develop positive moral attitudes, diligence, and proper judgment. The development of good study habits, personal well-being awareness, and responsibility are emphasized daily. Our philosophy is summed up in our school motto. It espouses: Diligence, Loyalty, Enthusiasm, and Aesthetics. Loyalty to one's friends and family. Diligence in one's studies and endeavors. Enthusiasm about serving and life. Aesthetic awareness and a love of beauty. In Chinese culture, teachers are role models for children. Dr. Cheng has devoted her life to education and she views teachers as engineers who cultivate young minds.
